Banner Synod 2026 Recaps with Jason Ruis
The Banner Asked Me to Help Recap Synod 2026
If you’ve listened to The Messy Reformation for any length of time over the past six years, you know how I’ve felt about the Banner. I’ve been frustrated with it. I’ve discouraged people from reading it. I’ve said out loud, more than once, that when it shows up in the mailbox it goes straight in the garbage.
So getting asked to appear on the Banner’s podcast to help recap Synod 2026 was, I’ll be honest, pretty wild.
And I don’t think that’s a small thing. It says something about how much has actually shifted in the CRC. The changes we’ve prayed for and pushed for and fought for over these last several years are taking root. There’s new leadership stepping up and new voices being welcomed into the conversation.
It’s my prayer that this would be encouraging to our listeners as we keep fighting the good fight in this messy reformation.

Reformation Moving Forward
I wanted you to see these for two reasons. First, this is a great overview of what has happened the first two days of Synod. Rather than recording our own midweek update, these are helpful overviews of what has happened so far.
Second, as I already mentioned above, this is a sign that things are changing in the CRCNA. We should be on our knees thanking God for all that He has done and continually praying for reformation to continue to be carried out in the CRCNA.
Stay tuned. Later this week we’ll record our own full Synod 2026 recap for The Messy Reformation.
